Roar Magazine is an independent English online platform that focuses on the grassroots perspective of the global battle for democracy. The magazine publishes articles on social movements, political, environmental and economic issues, digital activism, cultural criticism and international relations. By spreading information and inspiring its readers, the platform aims to incite rebellion against tyranny worldwide. The online magazine was founded in 2010 by writer, filmmaker and activist Jerôme Roos. It is produced by a transnational collective of journalists, scholars, activists and independent filmmakers. Volunteers across the world work to secure ROAR Magazine’s future existence. ROAR Magazine is motivated by the Dutch Foundation for Autonomous Media and Investigation. The Foundation seeks to make a tangible contribution to the public debate and add to social awareness, and also aims to add to the available scientific knowledge on international social movements and their important role in defending, renewing and furthering democratic values and practices.
