Truth-seeking

A well-informed society is a fundamental condition for a democratic constitutional state. Revealing hidden facts and putting checks on those wielding power, by independent research journalists is essential in achieving this.

But in a globalised world which is largely governed by the economic interests of multinationals, free and independent reporting is at stake.

That is why the Democracy and Media Foundation supports initiatives that focus on revealing hidden issues that are relevant to the public interest.

Within the pillar truth-seeking the Democracy and Media Foundation prioritises initiatives that are focused on:

  • (Investigative) journalistic initiatives that aim to dismantle threats to our fundamental rights, as described for our pillar ‘Fundamental rights and freedoms’.
